8/2/20 - good to have Blues Cafe open again after Covid shut down. Good home cooked meals, delicious pies & a such an immaculate kitchen. Breakfast was good. The owner said they cut & grind their own meat so we will definitely go back and try their burger. The sisters do a great job. Good wait staff as well. Not many owners invite you in to look at their kitchen. Keep up the great work girls!

The food was great and just the right portion. The lady's are very friendly.

Take your seat as available. Staff there to assist you immediately. Menue is full of good selection. But, remember the best pie is available every day. A little expensive but worth it once in a while.

Just discovered Blues Cafe thats been there since 1954... on Station st. ,Kankakee....wonderful people, Awsome beer battered Walleye...🐟..I ordered a to go for my brother of Walleye dinner, he loved it!!. Next time i will leave room for PIE🍰made fresh daily at 4AM...I was told the butterscotch pie is worth the trip!!😉very disappointed with chocolate pie...its NOT real cream on top. it fluff marshmallow, really gross....especially when you expect cream....no comparison to the best...go to Bakers Square for French silk!!!

Staff is friendly. Regulars all are greeted as such and newcomers made to feel at home. Denise was our waitress. Very pleasant. Place is clean. Not loud. Food comes out quickly! Food is tasty. Found our breakfast restaurant

This is the landmark diner on Kankakee's West Side. I wish I had noticed the corned beef hash benedict. Enjoy mixing up classics. Coffee isn't bad though I'd enjoy creamer that needs refrigeration vs a room temp micro shot. Great service also is a nice change of pace from other chains.

Anyone who's ever been in a full car trying to find a place to eat knows how challenging it can be to find somewhere cheap, fast, super tasty, and that everyone is excited for. Local diners have always been able to fill that void and estabshments like Blues Cafe are why. The coffee is strong, portions are sized to be filling but not to overstuff, the skillets sizzling, the biscuits and gravy are rich in the right way, but the stars of the show are - for sure - the pies. Personal favorite is the butterscotch banana.

Breakfast was very good, can recommend the skillets and biscuits and gravy. The pies are outstanding. Save room for them. Service was good and waitresses knew many of the customers. Excellent neighborhood joint.

World famous gravy is what it says on the menu I don't know what world they're talking about because I've had much better gravy

Great local gem! It's a tucked away treasure. The food was delicious and the restaurant itself has major charm! But the thing that left the biggest impression? The people! The staff was incredibly kind and made for a great experience. Locals come here faithfully for a reason. It's quite "homey", indeed.

Best food in Illinois! We've been here a dozen times and the food is consistently great, especially the butterscotch pie. You can have that pie for breakfast and even feel bad about it, it's that good!

Best pie ever! Stop here every time we travel thru town. I always get the southwest grilled chicken salad. It has the best southwestern dressing ever! I always get the chocolate pie, yummy!
